April is National Donate Life Month

This is the time to be sure you, your family, your friends and the kids in your life are registered as an organ donor. It is so easy!

When applying for a Driver's License or State ID just check off "YES, I want to be an organ donor." If you do not have a State ID or Driver's License no matter the age, register at LifeLink. Being on the registry saves the family of the donor the additional stress of becoming a donor when in the hospital.

Organ donation is a gift that gives another person a second chance to live a healthy, productive life. Other than kidney donation, organs are donated after brain death from an injury, a stroke or heart attack--any traumatic event that cuts the oxygen off from the brain. It only takes 6 minutes without oxygen for the brain to suffer or die.

As LifeLink points out: "Leaving a legacy isn't just about what we achieve in life but also the impact we have on others’ lives. By registering as an organ, eye and tissue donor, your story continues. Your decision today can create a ripple effect of kindness and transformation for generations to come. Embrace the opportunity to be a hero and make a lasting difference."

April 13,  2022 my 33 year old son, Feeney, went into cardiac arrest. The one friend that was with him did not call 911. Feeney did not get a second chance to live because 911 was not called however Feeney gave over 150 people a second chance by donating his organs, eyes, skin, cartilage and more. In the midst of tragically losing my son, I felt so proud of his generosity to save lives. Follow Feeney's example and donate your organs. You too will be someone's second chance.
